The Long Island City food truck scene keeps getting better and better. Los Tacos City Habanero (on the corner of 48th Avenue and Vernon in the Hunter’s Point neighborhood of LIC) is no exception. This unassuming taco truck offers fresh, affordable, delicious tacos. Mexican food is available for pick-up (props to the quick service, but note it’s cash only), or for ordering through Seamless or Uber Eats.
In short, everything’s good at Los Tacos City Habanero. That said, I particularly recommend the al pastor tacos. The tacos include well-seasoned pork, pineapple, onions, cilantro, and guacamole, wrapped in fresh corn tortillas. You also can’t go wrong with any of the nachos. They’re a generous helping, and full of goodies. Be sure to try the green and red sauces.
The truck is open until 11pm. If you live on the water, it’s the perfect pit stop on your way home from the 7 train. (The food travels well.)
